Today was a pretty low key day. I was supposed to go running with Katie but when I finally dragged myself out of bed and made my way to change it was almost 1/2 past when we were supposed to go. Her light was off and door cracked so I assumed she had gone already. I know I could have gone on my own but I'd stayed up late watching the first 1/2 of this Indian movie and decided to wake up 2 hours later. I didn't. I was a bit sad about it too because yesterday was the first time in over five years that I ran 2 miles straight! (well at least 1.8) I figure if you have a good thing, got to keep it up.
I got to have lunch with my friend Jenn from church. We started attending around the same time and used to sit together a lot when we first came but sometimes we'll go a week without seeing each other and then it's kind of like hi-how are you, bye-take care conversations. So I was thrilled that we were able to have lunch together. I met her near her work and we went to this NEAT Indian restaurant. GOOD food! Another reason to lament not going for a run this morning yet set my mind on going tomorrow.
I went back to church and worked on a project with Michelle. Hsu always gives the most interesting projects from walking around the block trying keys in doors, searching online for key recycling to searching online to find out how one could DIY and at one temperature. It makes me think that he must have an interesting job as I simply assist him and only see a miniscule portion of the tasks he's required to undertake. I'm glad I can help him out though, he's a great, godly guy and hard worker for the kingdom and for our ministry at church.
SO after volunteering at church I was lured to the Bull Moose with the promise of the possibility of quiche. On Sunday Joanna had told me she had quiche and I'd stayed in the city to help her eat it for lunch. Needless to say I was a bit disappointed when after arriving there I found that there was no quiche to be had. In fact, while it was there that morning, by the time we arrived for lunch it had already been gone. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the time of good fellowhip and food (Joanna whipped up spaghetti for us). Sadly, there was also no quiche to be had at the Bull Moose.
After reading at the Bull Moose for about 10 minutes I drove to the pregnancy center for training. While there I realized that I might be able to change around my schedule and go in to sign my paperwork and do orientation this Thursday instead of waiting until next week.
When I finally got home I was excited to see that my roomie Kyla had finally returned with her sister from Italy. Rose was under the impression that she was supposed to be back on Sat. and was starting to get worried. She's such a caring mother figure - she was thrilled to have Kyla back. So, I'm glad she's returned safe and sound.
Jenn and I had some good conversation today about discerning the will of God in our lives especially when we're graced with so many options. I sometimes think it'd be so easy and nice to just know what's going to happen down the road so that I can get myself together and prepare. But I realize that God desires that I learn to trust and depend on Him regardless and not only does He get glory through this in the Kingship and Lordship we allow Him to have but also in the relationship that grows and deepens as we see Him as the Father who loves and cares for us and truly knows and desires our bests.
