Despite the intense and stifling heat, God blessed me with a lovely day today and several reminders of His faithfulness, goodness and kindness to His children.

I met Maxine, a lady from my church this morning. It was so good to spend that time with her this morning. I'm so thankful for the resources the Lord has provided through the women at our church. There are so many godly women from all walks of life in various stages of life with so much to share that God can teach and encourage us through.

This morning as I got ready to meet her my mind was busy thinking of all the things that are on my mind and my heart that I really need to commit to prayer over the next coming weeks. After we spent some time chatting about life and what God has been doing she prayed and although, I didn't ask her to pray for anything specifically, God laid on her heart the very same things that I'd been thinking of. She then shared a verse with me that the Lord had laid on her heart during her Bible reading this morning. It was exciting to see her joy as she pointed out the 5 promises of God in that one verse. I look forward to getting to know this godly woman of faith and prayer over the next few years.

I met Jen, a girl I'd met at the meal after church where I made the eggs, for lunch. I really enjoyed hearing how the Lord drew her to Himself and just getting to know her a little better. Over lunch, she reminded me of some friends she has near where I went to school and it turns out that she'll be driving down to visit them around the same time my folks and I are going down to take my brother. Just this morning I tried to mentally remind myself to look up the time and price of a Greyhound ticked back up here, because I'm leaving to come up early to get ready for work. So, it looks like I'll be able to keep her company on the drive back and she can help me have an odor free return from the 'Burg.

It's still so amazing to me that God is concerned about and works out all these little details, desires and plans in our lives. Sometimes I feel some things are just too petty to bother Him with and fail to cast ALL my cares on Him. The verse that Maxine shared with me today is from Zeph. 3:17 - The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, He will rejoice over you with singing. This verse and today was a good reminder of my faithful, loving and caring Savior and Lord who is true and not slack concerning His promises. He is not far removed from His children but involved in a personal, sustaining relationship with them.
