GOOD THINGS SOMETIMES COME TO AN END!!

So my time in Nassau with extended family was SO sweet! Shooting the breeze with my cousins and my cousin's girlfriend. Cracking jokes. Catching up with my aunts and uncles and other cousins.

An added treat was I got to spend most of my last day here with my best friend. She and her brother have been attending the college here and are renting a house. After I took care of my business at the Embassy she picked me up and we hung out with her mother, whom I actually flew out of Freeport with coincidentally. We then picked up her brother and went back to the house for a while. It was so nice to see T and catch up. We probably haven't seen each other in at least 2 years. But it's so wonderful that whenever we do we pick up right where we left off without skipping a beat. Additionally, and this is a good example of what a small world it is in the islands, BK and I are sitting in the living room when a visitor shows up. T answers it and in walks my godbrother whom I haven't seen since middle school! We were both pretty surprised to see each other.

As we were getting ready to leave to return to my aunt's, I got a phone call that my uncle, aunt and cousin were already at her house waiting for me. What a sweet reunion! My mummy and uncle are pretty close in age and have always been very close friends. In light of that, I've always been close to him and his daughters. We're all within 3 years of each other and grew up getting along splendidly. Last year when I came to visit our paths were unable to cross so it was good to see each other again after 2 years. He is seriously SOOOO funny -he had me, my cousins and T cracking up! It's easy for me to see why he and Mummy get along so well. His youngest started college with me my junior year and has now returned to work on her Masters so she's also in college with my brother! My elder cousin who is working on her residency as a doctor in the hospital in Nassau, was still at work so I haven't been able to see her.

After everyone left, I went over to another aunt's house to say goodbye to my cousins, aunt and uncle. When we returned I had my last meal of conch salad and cracked conch that my cousin Rye made. It was a great way to end my trip.

I left the sunny isles of the Bahamas with 77 degree weather and less than 3 hours later I was back in muggy, rainy, yet 65 degree weather. It's always hard for me to adjust-and not because of the weather, it was actually pretty warm, just wet. Although it's all a part of the western world the pace of life and even some social interactions and expectations are different. Immediately, my mind was racing with a to-do list and prioritizing which things needed to be done when and where. I left the memories of the wide, islandy, left-side driving roads of Nassau and was quickly faced with the present reality of busy, jam-packed transit trains.

I was disappointed to find that our internet service was still down after switching names on the account because Mary moved out. I was on my way to my friend KA's to connect online and inadvertently grabbed Laur's car keys, no house key, instead of mine. Thus, I was locked out of the house but still had trans. After I'd been there a while, I called home to see if my new roomie wanted to come over to the get-together she was hosting for some ladies at our church. I returned home, joyfully greeted Ky and switched cars before Mar and I headed over to KA's. While there I thought to invite Ky, so I called her then went home to get her to join us. It was really nice hanging out with my housies AND other people and I love hanging out with Ky anyway.

I was really glad I went.
I met a few newcomers to the church and it was a good first activity after getting back. We had great food and really good conversation and I'm quite thankful that it worked out for us to go.
